Two HM militants killed in Doda

Doda, Aug 24: Security forces gunned down two Hizb-ul- Mujahideen(HM) militants in an encounter at the remote village of Kalihand in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir this morning.

Assistant Superintendent of police Varinder Sharma told that teams of four Rashtriya Rifles and police, on a specific information, launched a joint operation in the area and gunned down two militants namely Kuldeep Kumar alias Kamran and Khalid Kashmiri in a fierce encounter.

Security personnel were carrying out searches in the area for recovery of arms and ammunition from the slain militants. However, four grenades had been recovered so far.

Mr Sharma said that Kuldeep, a relative of local leader of manstream political party, was a notorious criminal and wanted in many cases to police. He had joined the HM outfit to evade arrest.
