TRS made a mistake by quitting UPA Govt: CPI

Visakhapatnam, Aug 24 (UNI) The Communist Party of India (CPI) Andhra Pradesh Secretary K Narayana today said by quitting the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Goverenment and withdrawing its support, the Telangana Rashtra Samiti(TRS) had not taken the right step.

Talking to newspersons here, he said the TRS Chief K Chandrasekhar Rao could have continued his political fight by remaining in the the Cabinet Mr Narayana said if the TRS had to exit from the UPA Goverenment, it should have done it earlier by not entering into the Cabinet.

He said an expert Committee should be set up to find out whether Telangana was the need of the hour. The Government should provide a special package of Rs 10,000 crore for the development of the region, he added.

He said the CPI would conduct statewide public meetings and rallies from September 11 to 17 to commemorate the annual celebrations of Telangana agitation held in 1948 against the feudal state of Nizam.
