Today's incidents ''unfortunate and painful'': Sharad Yadav
New Delhi, Aug 24 (UNI) Describing today's incidents between RJD and JD(U) members in Lok Sabha as ''unfortunate and 'painful'', JD(U) President Sharad Yadav said that Mr Prabhunath Singh, leader of the party in the House, would be persuaded to withdraw his resignation.
''I will also talk to Speaker Somnath Chatterjee on the matter and hope the Speaker will reject Mr Singh's resignation,'' he told mediapersons at a briefing in the premises of Parliament.
Mr Yadav said he would also inquire from Mr Prabhunath Singh what prompted him to take such an extreme step. Both parties were regretting the incident, and therefore he was confident the matter would be amicably resolved.
The JD(U) President said tempers did run high several times in the Houses but never turned into ugly scene. ''I will only say that today's incidents are unfortunate and painful,'' he stressed.
Enraged over the manner an RJD member moved towards him menacingly soon after the House was adjourned by the Speaker to save the situation from taking an ugly turn, Mr Singh, when the House reassembled, said it seemed he was not fit for the House and hence decided to resign. He immediately left his seat and handed over the resignation to the Speaker before walking out of the House.
