Suicide bid: actress complains of torture by director
Chennai, Aug 24 (UNI) The case of a suicide bid by actress Vijayalakshmi, has taken a new turn after she pointed fingers at the director of a game show, which she was anchoring on a popular Kannada channel.
Police said they were on the lookout for the director Ramesh who had reportedly fled to Bangalore A special police team from Chennai has left for Banglaore to nab him, police added.
Vijayalakshmi, who made her debut in 'Friends', had acted in many Tamil and Kannada films.
Currently, she is anchoring a game show 'Bangara Vetta' produced by Radhika Sarath Kumar's Raadan Media Works and directed by Ramesh.
After she returned home from shooting on Tuesday night, she reportedly consumed sleeping pills in a bid to end her life. It came to light yesterday afternoon, when her mother tried to wake her up.
Later, she was admitted to a private hospital, police added.
In her complaint, the actress told the police that she was 'tortured' by director Ramesh to marry him. When she failed to reciprocate his sentiments, he allegedly insulted her at the shooting spot in front of others.
Though, discharged from the hospital today, was she immediately rushed back to a hospital in the afternoon after she complained of dizziness, sources close to her said.
