Ranji Trophy champs UP to play in West Indies
Kanpur, Aug 24 (UNI) Ranji Trophy champions Uttar Pradesh will represent India in a tournament to be played in West Indies on November 7.
UP Cricket Association secretary P D Pathak today said here, this would be the fist time, when the UP Ranji team would showcase its talent in Guyana, West Indies.
The match would be played at the new world-class stadium in Guyana, which was constructed with the help of the Indian Government.
The West Indies government had requested India to send any of its domestic cricket teams for the inaugural tie.
Therefore at a Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) meeting in Chennai on August 16, it was decided to send the current Ranji Trophy champs for the match.
The UP team will leave at least three days before the encounter, Mr Pathak informed.
UP team had won the Ranji Trophy this year under the captaincy of Team India member Mohd Kaif.
