Production of coaches, wheels, axles exceeds targets

New Delhi, Aug 24 (UNI) All the production units of the Railways, including the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) and Chitranjan Loco Works (CLW), exceeded their production targets during the first quarter of the current fiscal.

The ICF produced 346 coaches as compared to the target of 338 coaches while the Rail Wheel Factory (RWF) produced 45214 wheels and 17639 axles against the target of 44257 wheels and 17347 axles.

The target of 63 locos by Diesel Loco Works (DLW), 37 electric locos by Chitranjan Loco Works (CLW) and 412 coaches by Rail Coach Factory (RCF) for the period had also been met, a ministry official said.

The ordinary working expenses during the period also came down to Rs. 11642.49 crore as compared to the budgetary provision of Rs. 11829.78 crore.

The punctuality percentage of mail and express trains during April-July this year in Broad Gauge and Meter Gauge respectively was 92.1 and 97.5 as compared to 91.7 and 97.2 during the same period last year.
