Pallam Raju, Praful Patel Meet Defence, Civil Aviation Officials

New Delhi, Aug 24 (UNI) Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel and Minister of State for Defence MM Pallam Raju today met senior officials of the Ministries of Defence and Civil Aviation, the Indian Air Force, Airports Authority of India (AAI), and DGCA in the Defence Headquarters here.

They discussed various issues including those pertaining to improving the management of Air Space, airfields which were under joint management of the IAF and AAI, and Air Traffic Control, an official spokesperson said.

The meeting addressed some long-pending issues synergise the operations of the two most important constituents of Air Space Management -- the Indian Air Force and Civil Aviation.

It was decided that an institutional framework will be evolved for tackling and resolving day-to-day issues in management and operations of rapidly expanding aviation arena.

Exchange of defence lands with that of civil aviation lands as required by the defence as well as the AAI would also be addressed by such a mechanism.

Requirements of better radar facilities and Air Traffic Control also would be given urgent attention.

A time-frame of one month was fixed for the officials of both the Ministries to work out the details, the spokesperson said.
