Nigerian oil militants vow revenge for killings

LAGOS, Aug 24 (Reuters) Nigerian militants in the oil producing Niger Delta threatened today to avenge the killing of at least 10 of their fighters by troops and restated their aim to halt all exports from Africa's top oil producer.

''Our response to Sunday's killings will come at our time, but for certain it will not go unpunished,'' the Movement for the mancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) said in an email to Reuters, adding that the victims were on a peaceful mission to help free a hostage when they were killed.
