New Chief Electoral Officer for Andaman and Nicobar Islands

Port Blair, Aug 24 (UNI) Election Commission of India in consultation with the administration of the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands has nominated Mr Praveen Kumar Gupta, as the Chief Electoral Officer for the territory.

According to an official release of A&N administration, his appointment would be in effect from the date he takes over charge and until further orders from Mr Chetan Bhushan Sanghi, another IAS, posted presently in Andamans.

''The commission is not insisting on a full time Chief Electoral officer in the Union Territory of Andaman&Nicobar Islands and has allowed Mr Gupta to retain his regular additional charges as Commissioner-cum-Secretary,'' the release added.
