Nadumudi Venu gets maiden Balan K Nair award

Kozhikode, Aug 24 (UNI) Noted actor Nedumudi Venu has been chosen for the maiden KTC 'Bharat' Balan K Nair award for his outstanding contribution to Malayalam film industry.

The award, instituted by the Balan K Nair Memorial Committee and sponsored by the KTC groups of companies in memory of the noted actor Balan K Nair, carries a cash prize of Rs 30,001 and citation, Committee chairman P V Gangadharan told reporters here today.

Febin Saboo Thomas of Kottyam bagged the award, carrying a sovereign, also instituted by the Committee, for his excellent performance in Kerala State School Youth Festival.

Kerala Social Welfare and Health Minister P K Sreemathi would present the awards at a function to be held here on August 26, he said.

Veteran actor Madhu would deliver the Balan K Nair memorial lecture, he added.
