New Delhi, Aug 24 (UNI) The Government today said it will take up with the US the complaints that Indians working in the US are not returned their social security money running into millions when they come back home.

Replying to the Members' concern that Indians were facing discrimination in the US in respect of working conditions, Minister of State for External Affairs Anand Sharma said, ''We will definitely draw the US administration's attention to these complaints.

Ms Mohsina Kidwai, who had asked the main question along with Mr Vijay Darda, quoted a NASCOM report that about 600 million US dollars of IT professionals working in the US had been taken as social security.

Ms Kidwai, amd also Ms Najma Heptullah, wanted to know whether Indians were allowed to withdraw their provident fund when they left the job, as was being allowed in case of US citizens working here.

The Minister said the provident fund issue did not concern the main question, but assured the House that he would raise the issue of social security money with the US.

When asked about the effect of the Immigration Reform Bill passed by the US Congress on Indian students and workers, the Minister said the final text of the legislation was yet to emerge. ''While there are provisions related to employment based visas in the version passed by the Senate, it is premature to comment on the final outcome as the legislative process was going on,'' he said.

As for the cases of harassment and exploitation of Indian workers by the administration and the companies who employed them, the Minister said the country's Missions in the US have been directed to provide all help to them.
