Mongolia confers top state honours on Sri Sri
Bangalore, Aug 24 (UNI) Art of Living Founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar was conferred the 'Order of the Pole Star,' a top civilian and military honour of Mongolia in recognition of the foundation's contribution to that nation.
The award was conferred on the spiritual leader by Mongolian President Mongolia Nambaryn Enkhbayar in Ulan Bator at a function held in the Presidential Palace today.
Receiving the award, Sri Ravi Shankar said, ''It (the award) is an honour not to a person but the ancient philosophy and spiritual radition of India.'' He also held a brief interaction with Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama, who was on a low-key visit to Mongolia. Both the spiritual leaders emphasised that non-violence and dialogue were the only means for long lasting peace.
Currently on a three-day visit to Mongolia, Sri Ravi Shankar was welcomed by several top leaders, including its President, who have undergone the Art of Living programme. Nearly 10,000 people attended the Sudarshan Kriya session conducted by the spiritual guru today.
The award ceremony coincided with the 10th anniversary celebrations of the Art of Living in Mongolia, a Foundation release here said.
