Imphal, Aug 24 (UNI) Mediapersons of Manipur have expressed concern over repeated threats they have been receiving for refusing to issue press statements.

A meeting held last night at the State Press Club discussed the ban imposed on a few newspapers by some unknown persons.

The scribes also informed about threats from a new militant organisation. The meeting had decided not to publish any report connected with the new organisation.

Condemning the failure of the police to give them protection, the journalists said they had also submitted a memorandum to the state DGP A K Parashar, however, the police had not taken any action till yet.

They also said Chief Minister Okram Ibobi refused to litsen to their plea.

"The CM and his government would be held responsible if anything happens to us," they warned.

The scribes, however, said they would lift the boycott of government news from tomorrow.
