Man arrested in bomb hoax case

Vijayawada, Aug 24 (UNI) The city police today arrested a man who allegedly telephoned the police control room from his mobile on June 20 informing that a bomb was planted in the Bashyam Public School here.

Talking to newspersons, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) M Satyanarayana said Baba Vali had telephoned from his phone claiming that a bomb had been placed in the school, which later turned out to be a hoax.

But based on the number recorded in the caller identification phone at the control room, police investigated the case with the help of Reliance officials and traced him.

He said stern actions would be taken against those who make hoax calls informing that bombs were planted in schools and trains.

Meanwhile, the accused claimed that he was innocent and the police had wrongly implicated him in the case.
