LS members seek FM's explanation on price rise

New Delhi, Aug 24: Several Lok Sabha members today endorsed SP member Ramjilal Suman's demand for an explanation from Finance Minister P Chidambaram for the governtment's failure to check the rising prices of essential commodities despite assurances on the floor of the House.

Raising the issue during Zero Hour, Mr Suman said the prices of wheat, pulses, sugar and several other essential commodities were skyrocketing and the government was not sensitive to the needs of the people.

Mr Chidambaram owed an explanation to the House as he had assured the members on several occasions that the prices would be brought down soon.

Mr Basudeb Acharia (CPI-M) also expressed similar sentiments, with which several opposition members associated themselves.
