K'taka to train tribals to collect honey
Madikeri, Aug 24 (UNI) The Karnataka Government has launched a pilot project to train tribals to collect honey from honeycombs using modern methods, Karnataka Khadi Board Chief Executive Officer R Rameshappa has informed.
Addressing a seminar on ''the importance of honey in Ayurveda,'' organised by the Board and the Federation of Tribes Market Development at Thithimati near Gonicoppal, he called upon tribals to make use of the opportunity.
He also asked tribals to adopt modern methods to while collecting honey, especially from wild honeycombs.
Honey Industry and Commerce, Bangalore, Organiser S Indushekar lamented that honey industry in Kodagu was facing bad times and called upon the government to take up rejuvenation measures.
