India-Brazil-SAfrica cooperation in Agriculture
New Delhi, Aug 24 (UNI) The Union Cabinet today gave its approval for signing the MoU on Trilateral Cooperation in agriculture and allied fields among India, Brazil and South Africa (IBSA) under the IBSA Dialogue Forum initiative.
The MoU, valid for five years, provides for cooperation in research and capacity building, agricultural trade, rural development and poverty alleviation and other allied areas.
It envisages a Joint Working Group which will draw up action programme for two-year period and will act as the forum for exchanging views and information relevant to trilateral cooperation in the relevant fields, Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi told reporters after the Cabinet meeting that gave the approval.
The trilateral cooperation in agriculture through the MOU will provide an avenue for utilising the potential synergies among the parties and will contribute to the revitalisation of South- South Cooperation.
