Hearing in Sankaraman murder case posted to Sep 18

Pondicherry, Aug 24 (UNI) The District and Sessions court here today posted to September 18, hearing of the Sankararaman murder case in which Kanchi Acharyas Jayendra Saraswathi and his brother Vijayendra Saraswathi are prime accused, following strike by the lawyers.

The judge had on July 19 posted the case for today. But when it came up before the court, none of the lawyers turned up. The lawyers from Chennai also did not enter the court hall.

Of the 24 accused, seven, including the accused Jayendra Saraswathi and Vijayendra Saraswathi, did not turn up before the Court.

The Judge after noticing the presence of the other accused in the court, accepted a memorandum from Kadiravan in the absence of lawyers. In the memorandum Kadiravan demanded that he would like to check certain documents on which the prosecution was relying upon.

The judge then adjourned the case to September 18.
