Haryana to expand ITI network
Chandigarh, Aug 24 (UNI) With a view to expanding industrial technical education in Haryana, the state government has decided to expand the network of Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and increase their intake capacity.
The government has also decided to introduce new courses, especially by developing a training module of short term courses in vocational education for school dropouts, Industrial Training and Vocational Education Minister Lachhman Dass Arora said today. He said there was tremendous response for training in ITIs in Haryana as 80,000 applications were received for admission in government ITIs as against the annual intake of 8,500.
The proposal to increase their intake capacity was also under consideration of the government, he added.
An expression of interest had been invited to provide courses in vocational areas of marketing, hardware repair, mobile phone repair, call centre assistant and BPO for the benefit of school dropouts.
He further said the government had approved the setting up of 11 new ITIs at Pannehra Khurd, Kushak, Chhara, Kalanaur, Mattanhail, Naraingarh, Berli Kalan, Kiloi, Rawaldhi, Dumer Khan and Pataudi.
The government, he said, had decided to upgrade five more ITIs as centres of excellence during the current financial year.
