Fresh privilege motion against Jaswant in RS
New Delhi, Aug 24: The Rajya Sabha today saw a fresh privilege motion moved against Leader of Opposition Jaswant Singh for ''misleading'' the House on the issue of 'mole-in-the-PMO'.
Senior Congress member Santosh Bagrodia, who moved the motion, said that Mr Singh misled the House by not furnishing prooof to substantiate his allegations.
Chairman Bhairon Singh Shekhawat referred the matter to the Privilege Committee of the House. He had yesterday rejected another Congress member V Narayanasamy's privilege notice against the former External Affairs Minister on the same issue, The notice mentioned that Mr Singh had quoted a letter, which he claimed was written to former US Ambassador to India Harry Barnes by US Senator Thomas W Graham. But Mr Barnes has denied that any correspondence took place with the Senator.
Mr Bargodia, quoting Mr Barnes said that there was never any Senator by the name of Thomas W Graham in US history.
''Mr Singh has misguided the House, so the matter be given to the Privilege Committee,'' he said.
