Freedom fighter Dinesh Dasgupta dies at 95
Kolkata, Aug 24 (UNI) Veteran freedom fighter and Samajwadi party leader Dinesh Dasgupta died here today. He was 95.
He was a bachelor.
A comrade-in-arm of Surjya Sen, the legendary hero in the Chittagong armoury raid, Mr Dasgupta was born at Dhalghat village of Chittagong, now in Bangladesh in 1911.
He suffered imprisonment for 12 years, including four years in the Cellular jail of Andaman for participating in the armed struggle against the British.
He was a believer in socialist philosophy.
His body will be taken in a procession to the statue of Surjya Sen at College street and the Samajwadi Party office tomorrow before being cremated.
