Four to receive Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Awards this year

New Delhi, Aug 24 (UNI) Four people have been selected for the 'Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Awards 2005', which would be given along with the Arjun Awards and other sports awards by President A P J Abdul Kalam on August 29.

Subedar Chhering Norbu Bodh (Land Adventure), Shital Kamalakar Mahajan (Air Adventure), Commander Mukul Asthana (Water Adventure) and Nawang Gombu (Life Time Achievement) would receive the awards at Rashtrapati Bhawan from the President.

A cash prize of Rs three lakh, a bronze statue and a scroll of honour are given to the recipients of the 'Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Awards', constituted in 1993 to recognise achievements in the fields of adventure.

Nominations for the award are called from state governments, adventure wings, Army, Navy, Air Force, ITBP and reputed adventure institutions.
