Conference against anti-reservation stir on Sept 17 in Nagpur

Nagpur, Aug 24 (UNI) Different organisations belonging other Backward Class (OBC) in Vidarbha will organise a conference here on September 17 to oppose the anti-reservation agitations being carried out in the country.

Briefing reporters here today, former MP Prakash Ambedkar said the main objective of the conference is to create awareness among the OBC communities to bring all doctors, lawyers, professors, employees, students and their parents belonging to OBC and other protagonists of reservation to strongly counter the anti-reservation agitationists.

''We demand reservaion on the Tamil Nadu-pattern on castes basis,'' he said.

Commenting on the Reservation Bill being introduced in Parliament, Mr Ambedkar stressed that the provision in the Bill should extend reservation in private educational institutions also.

Union Health Minister Dr Abumani Ramados will be the chief guest of the conference, in which over 5,000 representatives of various OBC organisations from the region would participate.

Former prime minister V P Singh and Sharad Yadav are also invited to attend the conference, he added.
