Compassionate Appt to widows of Mumbai Blasts

New Delhi, Aug 24: Finance Minister P Chidambaram has approved appointments on a 'out-of-turn basis' on compassionate grounds of two of the widows whose husbands were working in the Central Excise Department and were killed in the Mumbai blasts.

The deceased are Mr Sanjay Samant and Mr Shashi Shekhar, Inspectors of Thane-II Central Excise Commissionerates, who became victims of the July Mumbai blasts.

Mr Chidambaram approved the proposal of the Central Board of Excise and Customs, Department of Revenue, keeping in view the exceptional circumstances of the case.

The 'out-of-turn' appointments in appropriate Group 'C' posts against all India quota for such appointments are to be determined for the current year 2006-07.
