Bomb scare in Wipro building

Kolkata, Aug 24 (UNI) Tension gripped the Wipro building at the Salt Lake Electronic Complex after a bomb scare caused by an anonymous call today.

Police said the building was evacuated following the call. The bomb disposal squad rushed to the site and was carrying out search operation. Sniffer dogs were also brought in.

North 24 Parganas Superintendent of Police Praveen Kumar said efforts were on to trace the caller. Police is examining a parcel that has been traced in the area.

The entire area had been cordoned off and officials from the combat force were also deployed.

Security in the area has been beefed up and an ambulance has been kept ready to meet any emergency.
