Varanasi, Aug 24 (UNI) The nephew of Bharat Ratna Ustad Bismillah Khan, this evening paid rich tributes to his illustrious uncle by playing 'Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram' on his shehnai and capped the performance, with a vow to actualise Khan Sahib's unfulfilled wish of performing at the India Gate.

Mumtaz Hussain Khan, the nephew of Khan Sahib and grandson of Ali Buksh 'Vilayatu' -- the maternal uncle and guru of the shehnai wizard -- this evening paid a melodious tribute to his world famous uncle at an all religious meeting organised at the Maitri Bhawan here.

The shehnai player who consorted his illustrious uncle at many concerts, played 'Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram' and the 'Banarasi Dhun', both of which he claimed were close to Khan Sahib's heart.

Interacting with mediapersons later, Mumtaz said he will keep the melodious soul of his famous guru and 'Mamu' alive by furthering his musical journey and ideals.

''Unke bataye huye raste pe chalke main unki rooh ko sacchi shradhanjali arpit karoonga,'' he maintained.

He also took a vow to actualise the last wish of Khan Sahib to perform at the India Gate, if given a chance by the authorities.
