BHU doctors wear black bands to work

Varanasi, Aug 24 (UNI) Even as the anti-quota stir becomes more vigourous in the national capital, doctors at the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) today wore black bands to symbolically protest the UPA government move to introduce 27 per cent OBC Quota bill in the current session of Parliament.

''As per our request, the resident doctors and teachers of Sir Sunder Lal Hospital and Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS-BHU) are wearing black bands to work to show their support towards our anti-reservation cause,'' said Shashi Prakash, the media incharge of the agitating doctors.

Dr Prakash said a protest meeting will be held at IMS BHU this evening to chalk out the strategy for intensifying the movement.

The meeting is not only likely to be attended by fledgling and resident doctors, but also by students from Institute of Technology (IT-BHU) and other colleges and faculties of the central university.
