BEA Systems to increase investments in India
Bangalore, Aug 24: Encouraged by its tremendous growth in India, the BEA Systems, a world leader in enterprise infrastructure software, has decided to step up its investments and expand operations in the city, Company Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Alfred Chuang informed today.
Addressing newspersons after inagurating the company's newly expanded office here, he said ''BEA has seen tremendous growth in India as Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) gains momentum as the technology approach that enables business transformation and optimisation.'' Mr Chuang announced that the Bangalore facility would be developed into the largest R and D Centre outside the Unied States in the coming years, under its expansion plans. The expanded operations included plans to base key WebLogic Integration (WLI) development areas in the Bangalore Centre location. The WLI was a key component of the unified SOA platform from BEA, he added.
Outlining the expansion plans in India, he said BEA was also considering establishment of a Solutions Centre in the city to focus on supporting the company's long-term expansion plans in the country and Asia Pacific region. Currently the BEA had a Product Development and customer Support facility in the city that was responsible for mainline engineering, quality assurance, sustaining enegineering and customer support, he added.
BEA's customers in India included Life Insurance Corporation, Tata Teleservices, National Stock Exchange, Indian Railways and ICICI.
Mr Chuang said recognising the vast potential in India's emerging market, the company was assessing ways to increase investments, leverage the immense talent pool of professionals and look forward to working more closely with customers and partners.
He said the company also planned to have tie-up with reputed technological institutions to train students and recruit them.
Initially it would take students as interns for six months or one year and based on their performance offer job opportunities.
To a question, he said the company had acquired many firms to leverage its capabilities focusing on innovation in SOA. BEA provided the technology, solutions and services to help companies achieve a state of Business Liquidity where enterprise assets were freed up to deliver maximum business value.
