Accident kills 7 retired armymen, injures 20 in Western Bangladesh

Dhaka, Aug 24 (UNI) Seven retired army personnel were killed and about 20 others injured in a road accident on the Jessore-Magura road in western district of Jessore here today.

Police said 35-40 retired army personnel were returning home in a mini-truck after collecting their rations from Jessore cantonment when the accident occurred at about 1730 hrs.

The accident took place when a Khulna-bound truck rammed into the mini-truck, killing four of the retired army personnel on the spot and injuring about 23 others.

Of the injured, 12 were admitted to Jessore General Hospital where three of them succumbed to their injuries. Condition of five others was said to be critical.
