Chennai, Aug 23: City-based Zak Trade Fairs and Exhibitions Private Limited is entering into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with German-based Messers Dusseldorf,GmbH to jointly organise trade shows in India and abroad.

Giving details of the tie-up to newspersons here, S Zakir Ahmed, Chairman and Managing Director of Zak Trade said that the MoU, would be formally signed in the presence of Union Communication and Information Technology Minister Dayanidhi Maran here on August 26.

Mr Ahmed said under the MoU, the German company, which was world's leading exhibition organisers, would bring foreign participants, besides the entire infrastructure, when trade shows are organised by Zak in India.

After the MoU coming into effect from January next, the two companies would jointly organise "Glasstech" an exhibition, featuring glass industries in Delhi in October, he said.

He said Zak Trade became the first company in the private sector to have organised 200 exhibitions and trade shows and Mr Maran would inaugurate the bicentennial exhibition on August 26 at the Chennai Trade Centre.

The exhibition and trade show industry was worth Rs 1200 crore in the country and it was growing by 25 per cent, he said and wanted the Governments to recognise it as a service industry and issue consistent guidelines.

On future plans, he said the company had an idea of taking the Chennai Trade Centre on long lease for organising trade shows and build its own trade centre at suburban Sriperumbudur.

He would discuss the project with Mr Maran, he added.
