Tectonic movements in MP villages send people into tizzy

Ratlam, MP, Aug 23 (UNI) Tectonic movements in several villages under Sailana sub-division of this district adjoining Rajasthan has sent people into a tizzy.

Collector Dipti Gaud Mukherjee had visited the affected area yesterday.

Rumblings were heard from beneath the ground at Bagwal Khora near Kunda village adjoining Rajasthan on August 21. Some people felt vibrations under the ground.

On receiving information about the matter, Sailana Sub-Divisional Magistrate and other senior officers reached the spot on August 21 itself.

Similar incidents occurred at Indraval Khurd, Badi Khurd, Nahar Bhamaria and other villages at 1130 hrs yesterday.

Half-a-bigha land caved in at Indraval Khurd, while some land caved in at Badi Khurd. Similar incidents were reported from Nahar Bhamaria village.

However, villagers refused to shift to relief camps despite the incidents.

Ms Mukherjee said incidents such as caving in of land was occurring because of heavy rainfall.

She denied that such incidents could be described as earthquake and added that geophysicists had been called to look into the matter.
