Take action against those responsible for derogatory content: BJP MP

New Delhi, Aug 23 (UNI) A senior BJP member today demanded action against those responsible for the derogatory contents in the books published by the NCERT for school students.

Making a submission in the Lok Sabha, Kishan Singh Sangwan said derogatory remarks about gods, religious gurus and communities were often seen in NCERT books.

Citing one example, he said the Jat community was described in one of the books as ''lunderers.'' Mr Sangwan said he also belonged to the Jat community and everyone knew about the contribution of the community to the nation.

''How is such a word used against a community known for its honesty and literacy,'' he asked.

He said such a situation could create a vicious atmosphere, and an explosive situation could emerge if communities were insulted.
