Rupee sheds two paise to close at 46.52/54/USD
Mumbai, Aug 23 (UNI) Indian Rupee today weakened by two paise to close at 46.52/54 per US Dollar compared to the previous close of Rs 46.50 per US dollar which again is attributed to surging crude oil price which today touched the US dollar 72.69 per barrel mark, said a money market trader here.
Earlier, rupee opened at 46.54/55 per US dollar and in the mid-morning session traded at 46.55/56/US dollar.
RBI today fixed the Reference Rate at Rs 46.56/US dollar compared to the previous rate of Rs 46.52 per US dollar.
The six-month forward premia was fixed low at 1.32 per cent and the one-year forward premia was also fixed low at 1.30 per cent.
The rupee performance against other currencies was comparatively not as good. Against Euro it was down at Rs 59.55 (59.54), against Pound sterling it was down at Rs 87.92 (87.79) and against Yen it was down at Rs 39.95 (39.91).
