Railway line betwen Cooch Behar-Asom by next year: Lalu

New Delhi, Aug 23 (UNI) A 13-member delegation today called on Railway Minister Lalu Prasad and submitted a memorandum for timely completion of a new Broad Gauge (BG) line between new Maynaguri to Jogighopa via Changrabandha and other places.

Talking to newspersons, Chandi Pal and Tazmul Haque said they were happy that the ministry had sanctioned Rs 120 crore for the project.

They said Mr Prasad assured the delegation that work between the new Cooch Behar in West Bengal and Dubri in Asom would be completed by next year.

He said the project envisages laying of new lines as well as conversion from Meter Gauge to Broad Gauge and also setting up of a number of Ralway Stations at important places.
