MP weather toll 121; 8,819 animals dead

Bhopal, Aug 23 (UNI) As many as 121 persons have died due to excessive rainfall and consequent flooding in Madhya Pradesh over about a month while eight persons are still missing.

Flooding affected 25 of the state's 48 districts and, ironically, the maximum 24 fatalities were reported from Bhopal district.

Corresponding figures were Badwani 15, Mandsaur 13, Ratlam 10 and Indore 9, an official release said here today.

Since July 30, 8,819 animals perished and more than 77,000 abodes were damaged.
