Mehraj-ul-Alam observed with religious fervour in Kashmir
Srinagar, Aug 23 (UNI) Mehraj-ul-Alam was observed with religious fervour across the Kashmir valley with people praying for whole night in various Mosques and shrines.
The main congregation was held at the historic holy shrine of Hazratbal in Srinagar where hundreds of muslims, including men, woman and children offered night-long prayers.
The devotees had a glimpse of the holy relic of Prophet Muhammad after every Nimaz at the white marbled Hazratbal shrine.
Various Islamic scholars also threw light on the importance of the day during the prayer sittings.
Special prayers were also held for restoration of peace and tranquality in the valley.
The administration had made elaborate arrangements for the holy occasion with adequate supply of power, water and food grains.
Special arrangements were also made at Charar-e-Sharif where hundreds of people held special prayers.
