Doctors hold anti-reservation protests in Punjab
Chandigarh, Aug 23 (UNI) Doctors in Punjab today held protests over the Centre's decision to clear the OBC Quota bill providing for 27 per cent reservations in higher educational institutes.
A report from Amritsar said doctors of SGPC-run Guru Ram Das IMSR wore black badges and blocked traffic for about an hour near gurdwara Saheedan shouting anti-quota slogans.
A report from Hoshiarpur said, an emergent meeting of the executive of National Equality Front (NEF) was held today under the Chairmanship of Dr S S Sharma, President of NEF, to strongly condemn in which the decision of the Union cabinet to clear the OBC Quota bill providing for 27 per cent reservations in higher educational institutes was strongly condemned by the members unanimously.
In a press release here, Dr S S Sharma termed it as a retrograde step which would push India into more sociological divisions with disastrous consequences.
