Deadly Japanese Encephalitis toll at 89
Gorakhpur, Aug 23 (UNI) The deadly Japanese Encephalitis (JE) toll in Uttar Pradesh today reached 89, following the death of two more children.
Joint director health Dr Umakant Prasad said the inflow of JE patients continued unabated at the Baba Raghav Das Medical College here.
Since April, a total of 534 people -- including 22 fresh cases -- sufferring from JE have been admitted at the medical college, of which 99 are still under treatment.
The patients belong to Gorakhpur, Deoria, Maharajganj, Sant Kabirnagar, Kushinagar, Basti, Siddharthnagar, Azamgarh, Gonda and Balrampur district of UP. Some cases also pertain to the adjoining districts of Bihar.
