Coast Guard trains cops for Marine Police wing
Pondicherry, Aug 23 (UNI) The Indian Coast Guard has been imparting training to select Pondicherry police personnel for the Marine Wing of police force.
Mr Somasundaram, Commanding Officer, Coast Guard Station here, in a statement today said the police personnel were undergoing training on maritime law, anti-smuggling and anti-narcotics operations, joint police-Coast Guard coordinated patrol at sea and aspects of coastal security.
The personnel will man the 'Marine Police Station' and 'Out Post' to be set up at Karaikal and Pondicherry respectively.
The training would ensure coastal security on the vast coastline of Pondicherry, he added.
