3 security personnel in Doda, 10 kg RDX recovered in Poonch

Jammu, Aug. 23 (UNI) Three security personnel, including an army jawan and a Special Police Officer (SPO), were killed in an encounter with militants in Baihal area of Doda while forces busted a hideout in Poonch district, police said today.

One jawan of the 23 Rashtriya Rifle and gunner Kiran J Velay were killed in an encounter in the Khari area in Banihal. A SPO was killed in an encounter with the same group last evening.

According to the police, three militants opened fire on the Army and Special Task Force, yesterday evening. The fire was returned in which security forces lost an SPO, Jagbir Singh.

Security forces also lost two of their personnel.

Singh's body has been sent to his native village of Bajmasta in Ramban tehsil for the last rites.

In a sepaerate incident, security forces busted a militant hideout and recovered 10 kgs of RDX, 50 PIKA rounds, two mortar shells, as many detonator fuses, some clothes, bags and ration under the Surnkote police station.
