19 killed in road accident in Gujarat

Ahmedabad, Aug 23: Nineteen people were killed when the truck in which they were travelling overturned near Bawla on the Ahmedabad-Rajkot highway early this morning.

The highway and the surrounding areas have been waterlogged for the past week due to heavy rains.

Seventeen bodies have been recovered so far, police said, adding that the accident occurred when the driver dozed off and lost control over the vehicle.

Senior police officials including SP Manoj Agarwal have reached the spot. Traffic on the highway is, however, normal.
