Zoramthanga urges banks to invest in natural resources

Aizawl, Aug 22 (UNI) Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga today appealed to various financial institutions of the country to invest in the state's natural resources.

Inaugurating the United Bank of India's (UBI) maiden branch in the state, Mr Zoramthanga said, ''Mizoram is fully equipped to provide any facility to the banks and financial institutions across the country for investing in the state's natural resources''.

Mr Zoramthanga added, '' Currently only a few banks are operating in the state. There should be a healthy competition among banks for the economic growth of the region.'' The Chief Minister also said the state had great economic prospects, and the banks could reap the benefits in agriculture and horticulture sectors.

Mr Zoramthanga said his government had led the state towards industrialisation by developing the small scale industries.
