SHGs in Mizoram to get hydel power generators
Aizawl, Aug 22 (UNI) The Mizoram government has proposed to buy about 300 micro hydel power generators with production capacity of 5 KW to provide electricity to the Self Help Groups (SHGs).
The project would provide uninterrupted power to the SHGs across the state.
A detailed project report has been sent to the Centre for the purchase of these generators, the Rural Development(RD) department informed.
The project blue-print stated that out of 300 generators, about 50 generators would be run by the SHGs and the rest by the government.
RD officials also said each small hydel power generator would produce upto 5 KW, thereby supplying electricity to all the nearby villages.
These small generators would generate electricity from running water as well as water stored in tanks at a higher level than the machine, they added.
The same water could be re-used to provide energy to run the machine when coupled with water pump powered by the machine itself, the officials pointed out.
