Indian's identity mistaken, denied job visa

Dubai, Aug 22: A case of mistaken identity denied job visa to an Indian who spent two days in the airport arrival lounge only to be deported back eventually, his relatives said.

Puliyirakeezhil Vinod Kumar came to the UAE on a tourist visa and went to nearby Kish Island for a change in visa status following an offer of a job.

But when he came back to Dubai to get a stamp on the employment visa he was detained as immigration records showed him having a criminal past, The Gulf Today reported.

There was a case registered under his name in Rajasthan, the relatives said, while the deported Vinod Kumar was from Kerala.

The case has been referred to the federal authorities in Abu Dhabi and a favourable decision is expected shortly, the relatives said.
