FAC report on failed GSLV-F02 mission shortly

Bangalore, Aug 22: The report of the Failure Analysis Committee that went into the failed mission of GSLV-F02, carrying INSAT-4C on July 12, will be submitted in the next few days.

ISRO sources told sources here today the ISRO would look into the recommendations of the Committee, headed by Mr K Narayana, Former Director of the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota, and take suitable remedial measures in future launches from Sriharikota.

The 15-member Committee, comprising experts from academic and research institutions, besides those from various ISRO centres, had been asked to review the performance of all subsystems of GSLV-F02 from lift-off to the termination of flight, identify specific reasons for anomalies observed and recommend corrective measures for the future course of action.

GSLV-F02, that blasted off from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at 1738 hrs, had deviated from the project path and had to be destructed mid-air by the launch controllers following an anomaly in one of the strap-on motors. The detailed analysis of the data received from the vehicle was being analysed to pinpoint the exact reason for the failure of the launch.
