Lottery fraud in Arunachal

Itanagar, Aug 22: Police has arrested four members of Tangsa Youth Welfare Association (TYWA) at Jairampur, under Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh on August 20 last, for violation of terms of reference given for conducting a Lucky Coupon Draw 2006.

According to police sources, Changlang Deputy Commissioner had granted permission to TYWA for the lottery with a limit of selling 8,000 tickets and conducting the draw of lot on January 26 last.

However, the DC on request had given extension for the draw to August 15 which did not take place.

Meanwhile, the local administration found out that the number of tickets sold was over 20,000 and directed the committee to deposit all unsold tickets and counterfoils of sold tickets by August 10, which the committee failed to comply with.

On receipt of a complaint from the local administration, police registered a case and arrested Sanglong Jong Tikhak, Issacc Nyan Mossang, Kingzong Morang and Hengshey Ronrang and launched investigation, the sources added.
