WB CEO to reach Purulia to discuss by-elections

Purulia, Aug 21 (UNI) West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer Debasis Sen will arrive here tomorrow to discuss the September 16 by-election to the Purulia Parliamentary seat.

The seat was lying vacant after Forward Bloc MP Bir Singh Mahato resigned because he was sentenced to ten years' imprisonment by a local court on May 12 for raping a woman on November 29, 1988.

Altogether 10,01,749 voters of seven assembly constituencies would exercise their franchise.
