Ustad's wish to perform in Darbhanga remains unfulfilled
Darbhanga, Aug 21 (UNI) Born at Dumraon in Bihar Buxar district, veteran Shehnai maestro Ustad Bismillah Khan had an earnest desire to extend his musical feast in the sleeping hamlets of Darbhanga.
The Ustad had enthralled the gathering with his melodious notes, Pahadhi dhuns, Kajari and Banarsi thumri here on several occasions during the regime of Darbhanga Maharaj. The noted player who placed Shehnai in the group of classical music had expressed desire to perform again when he was here on May 23 this year.
Although the nation is mourning the Bharat Ratna winner's death, the people of this small town are inconsolable because the wishes of Ustad to perform here remained unfulfilled.
