Unpleasant odour in Rajya Sabha causes 3 adjournments
New Delhi, Aug 21 (UNI) Scientists were called in to locate the origin of an unpleasant odour that caused three adjournments in the Rajya Sabha today.
CSIR scientists joined CPWD engineers and rectified a fault in the air-conditioning duct that kept MPs away from the Upper House for more than two hours.
''The fault has been identified and rectified... The functioning of the air-conditioning system is now normal,'' said the Rajya Sabha Secretariat in a late night statement.
Chairman Bhairon Singh Shekhawat adjourned the House after members complained of uneasiness due to the kerosene-like smell.
The house was about to discuss the demands of Anganwadi workers when the MPs said they were uncomfortable inside.
A member from the BJP even joked that the ruling party had found ''an easier way to kill the Opposition''.
