United Bank of India launches its operations in Mizoram

Aizawl, Aug 21 (UNI) United Bank of India (UBI) today launched its operations in the state by opening its first branch in the Mizoram capital city here.

Opening up its maiden branch in the state would be its 1319 branch in the country and 247th in the North East region.

UBI General Manager M Baisya told UNI that they would give more thrust on agriculture and allied sector in the state.

''We would also concentrate more to improve the much needed Credit Deposit Ratio in Mizoram from the existing 52 per cent, which is below par from the national level of 65 per cent,'' he said.

Apart from this, UBI will also implement various new schemes to the Self Help Groups (SHGs) across the state to have a better credit linkage between the SHG and our branches.

Housing loan, education loan, consumer loan and car loan would also be given priority besides installing ATM facilities in the state, Mr Baisya informed.

Earlier in the day, the new UBI branch in the state was inagurated by the chief minister Zoramthanga at a simple function held here at the state Information and public relation auditorium.

Out of the 247 UBI branches in NE region, Assam has 162 branches, Arunachal Pradesh 3, Mehalaya 11, Manipur 15, Nagaland 2, Tripura 43 and Mizoram one.
